My love of literature began with the flea-market books my father brought home—Karl May among them. In the late 1990s, The Dark Eye introduced me to tabletop role-playing. That first encounter became a lifelong passion and a community through which many wonderful people entered my life. This closeness to games continues to inform my work: rules must be precise and understandable, lore must carry atmosphere, and terminology must remain consistent.
My academic path took me through Eichstätt, Erlangen, Vienna, and Munich, where I earned one bachelor's and two master's degrees while deepening my linguistic, literary, and analytical expertise. Along the way, I discovered the works of H. P. Lovecraft and a particular affinity for horror, dark fantasy, weird fiction, and cosmic dread. Today, I am a member of the German Lovecraft Society.
Since 2023, I have worked as an independent translator specializing in English-to-German projects for tabletop RPGs, board games, digital games, and fantastic literature. My work combines precise, accessible rules language with atmospheric lore and naturally flowing German—supported by many years of editing and proofreading experience, particularly in academic contexts.
Language carries responsibility. That is why I combine inclusive, audience-aware language with a clear position on how texts are created: my translations, editing, and proofreading are produced without generative AI. Read more in the Raven Cat Compendium.
